Friends of the Library
The Friends of Colfax-Perry Township Public Library plays a significant role each year planning and implementing library events and programs. Membership is open to any individual, corporation, or community organization who shares the vision and purpose of the Friends of the Library by investing time, talent, and resources.
One important function is the Friends’ not-for-profit status as a charitable, tax-deductible gift repository for revenue from sales of surplus public library property (books & equipment) as well as for individual donations and gifts in accordance with Indiana Library Law and IRS regulations.
The Friends of C-PTPL holds an annual meeting to elect officers, presents the year-end report, and begins to develop a calendar of events for the next year. The President may call special meetings as needed throughout the year. The Friends of C-PTPL holds a membership in Friends of Indiana Libraries (FOIL), in order to network with successful 'Friends' throughout Indiana.
Books weeded from library shelves become property of The Friends and are sold for a free-will donation daily.
The annual Ole Hickory Days Festival each August is traditionally the big book sale by The Friends. May, 2007, a Scholastic Book Fair was hosted by The Friends the week leading up to the C-PTPL Re-dedication Open House. Profits in books added many new titles to the collection. The Friends assist with holiday parties and provide supplies for reading programs throughout the year, as well as author readings and book-signings, and storybook character visits.

There are four different levels of tax-deductible Membership to join The Friends of Colfax-Perry Township Public Library. Becoming a Friend of the Library is a great way of showing support for your communty.
Benefits of Membership include:
- Subscription to the "Friends" newsletter mailed to your home.
- 1st choice of book sale items.
- Inclusion in FOIL ((Friends of Indiana Libraries).
- Particpation in annual meetings to elect officers.
